Biography
Valery Shelyakin was born on August 24, 1941 in Birobidzhan . In 1960 he graduated from technical school No. 10 in Lipetsk (the basic educational institution of the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant ).
Since 1962, he was a member of the dance group of the Russian folk choir of the Novolipetsk metallurgists under the direction of A.P. Mistyukov . In 1967, under his leadership, a choreographic group was created in the Palace of Culture of Trade Unions, which was soon transformed into the Razodele folk dance ensemble.
In 1974 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Culture with a degree in Directing Ballet (“choreographer-teacher”).
Until 2009, he was the artistic director and chief choreographer of the ensemble "Expanse." He staged over 100 choreographic compositions (Zimushka, Russian Fun, Yelets Lace, a suite of folk dances in the Lipetsk Region). The ensemble repeatedly won the All-Russian and international choreographic and folklore festivals and competitions in Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, and the USA. He was the choreographer of the final concert of the All-Russian Festival of Folk Art, dedicated to the 850th anniversary of Moscow, held at the Kremlin Palace of Congresses.
In 1994, on his initiative, a choreographic department was created at the Lipetsk College of Music (now the Lipetsk Regional College of Arts ), in which he taught. His students work in the ensembles of Igor Moiseyev and named after Alexandrov, the dance theater "Gzhel", the ensemble "Cossacks of Russia".
In 2013, the Lipetsk Regional Prize named after V.S. and G.P. Shelyakins was established.
He died on September 12, 2017 at the 77th year of his life [1] [2] .
