Biography
Trained under the supervision of Viorica Pintile at the CSM Onești Club [1] .
She began to show high results at an early age. In the 800-meter race, she won all significant titles in junior and junior competitions. In 2007, she became the strongest in the world championship among athletes under 18 and the junior European championship . In 2008, she won the gold medal of the World Junior Championship with a new tournament record - 2.00.06, and two years later she became a two-time winner of these competitions.
She made her debut for the country's adult national team at the age of 16 at the 2007 World Cup , where she performed in the preliminary race of the 4x400 meter relay (the Romanians could not reach the final).
In 2012, she participated in the Olympic Games in London . In the 800 meters run, she reached the semifinals, where she showed the 12th time and ended the fight for medals.
She won three medals at the 2013 European Youth Championships : gold at a distance of 800 meters and two silver medals in 400 meters and relay races. In the same season, she won two victories at the Games of French-speaking countries (800 m and the relay race 4 × 400 m).
At the end of 2013, she became the focus of media attention in connection with a quarrel with her lover. During a showdown, the young man grabbed her roughly, and Mirela jumped out of the ground floor window to avoid violence. As a result of the incident, serious physical injuries were avoided [2] .
At the 2014 European Championships she ran in the finals, where she finished in last eighth place.
As part of the Romanian national team, she won a bronze medal in the relay 4x400 meters at the 2016 indoor championships [3] . The athlete was suspended from participation in the competition until the end of the proceedings.
