“Mio, my Mio” is a film of very high staged plastic culture. [...] Many episodes of the film truly impress with their fabulous, special world: this is the “dead forest”, and the “blacksmith's cave”, and mainly the entire deadly-stone decoration complex of the “kingdom of Kato”, a monster with a stone heart. [...] It has the impressive power of the screen as a powerful fairytale spectacle.
