Emeri Francis André Philippe de Montesquiou-Fezansac d'Artagnan ( fr. Aymeri Francis André Philippe de Montesquiou-Fezensac d'Artagnan ; born July 7, 1942 in the commune of Marsanne of the Jer department) is a French politician, member of the Radical Party . Mayor of Marsan since 1976; Member of the European Parliament in 1989-1993 and member of the Senate of France from the Gers Department in 1998-2015 [1] [2] . At birth, he had the name de Montesquieu; it was officially changed by de Montesquieu-Fezansac d'Artagnan on May 18, 2011 [3] , having received special permission from the Prime Minister of France, François Fillon. The reason for this decision was that the Duke of Ameri de Montesquieu is a distant descendant of the same branch of the Montesquieu clan, from which the mother of the famous captain of the royal musketeers Charles de Batz, Count d'Artagnan Francoise de Montesquieu d'Artagnan came from.
He was an observer in the Russian elections of 2017 in the Yaroslavl region [4] .
