Hurricane José ( eng. Hurricane Jose ) is a powerful tropical cyclone of the 4th hazard category , the longest storm of the Atlantic hurricane season of 2017. It was formed at the beginning of September 2017 when a strong tropical wave emerged from continental Africa. This is the third major hurricane of the Atlantic season of hurricanes in 2017 - the most active season in the history of observations. José threatened the Antilles , where he was supposed to pass a few days after the disastrous hurricane Irma . [1] However, on September 9, the hurricane changed its route, never reaching the Antilles. [2]

For the first time since 2010, three hurricanes operated simultaneously in the Atlantic Ocean: “Jose”, “ Katya ” and “ Irma ” [3] .
September 14, José weakened to a tropical storm. September 16, he again became a category 1 hurricane. September 25, the hurricane fell apart.
