Nelly, Vladimir Alexandrovich

Vladimir Aleksandrovich Nelli ( Nelli-Vlad ; February 17, 1895 - January 22, 1980 ) - Soviet Ukrainian theater director, actor, teacher. People's Artist of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic ( 1944 ). Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR ( 1946 ). Professor ( 1961 ).

Biography

In 1919 he graduated from the drama school-studio at the Second Lenin Theater of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic in Kiev , in which he began working as an actor from the same year.

He worked as a director of a number of theaters: RSFSR 1st ( Moscow , 1920 ); Chernihiv ( 1921 - 1923 ); Kharkov Krasnozavodsky Russian Drama Theater ( 1923 - 1927 ); Saratov ( 1927 - 1929 ); Odessa " Red Torch " ( 1929 - 1931 ). In 1931 - 1962 (intermittently, when he worked in other theaters for a short time) - director of the Lesya Ukrainka Kiev Russian Drama Theater . The first production was A. Afinogenov 's “Fear” [1] .

In 1933 - 1980 (with a break) he taught at the I.K. Karpenko-Karyi Kiev Institute of Theater Arts (since 1961 - professor). Among the students are V. Begma , Yu. Mazhug , B. Meshkis , A. Palamarenko , V. Rudnitsky, A. Slisarenko , F. Strigun [2] .

Author of the books “Director's work” ( 1962 ), “About the direction” ( 1977 ).

He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor , medals.

He died on January 22, 1980 in Kiev .
