Son (only child) of the jurisdiction of Cagliari Benedetta di Massa and judges of Arborea Barrizone III .
After accession to the throne, he took the name Saluzio V , under which it is mentioned in historical documents, but in scientific research is known as Guglielmo II di Cagliari .
After the death of Benedetta (1232), various parts of the jurisdiction of Cagliari were captured by noble Pisan families. The power of Guglielmo II was nominal. Until the age of majority (1235), he was under the care of an aunt on the part of his mother, Agnes.
The reign of Guglielmo II was peaceful - he was entirely subordinate to the Republic of Pisa.
