Biography
He studied with Hans Richter , inheriting his interest in Wagner's music. In 1898 , he accompanied Richter on his St. Petersburg tour, which was entirely devoted to Wagner, and, in particular, conducted Tristan and Isolde at the Mariinsky Theater . In 1924 - 1933 He worked in Berlin, mainly with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra , and also taught at the Berlin High School of Music (his students, in particular, were Ferdinand Leitner and Edmund von Bork ). When the Nazis came to power, he went to the USSR, and then to the USA .
