In 1949 he graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk College of Railway Transport . In 1949 - 1950 - an electrician on the railway.

In 1957 he joined the CPSU.
In 1960 he graduated from the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute (in absentia).
In 1960 - 1963 - Secretary of the party committee of the Dnepropetrovsk metalware plant.
