History
The stone church in the village of Khotylevo was built and consecrated in 1763 at the expense of the rich Bryansk landowner Faddey Petrovich Tyutchev, the owner of the village.
After 1917, the temple fell into disrepair, in 1929 the temple was closed [3] . In 1934, the building was adapted for a dormitory for students of a technical school, a second floor was made, a ceiling was added above it, stucco molding was shot down.
During the Great Patriotic War, the temple suffered from fascist occupiers. In the late 1940s, the completion of the temple was destroyed.
To date, the temple remains in a dilapidated state, without internal stucco decoration.
Architecture
It is a pillarless three-part building, brick and plastered. The main square in terms of the fours of the temple, with rounded corners, was crowned with a small octagon with a domed roof. It is adjoined by a small rectangular altar with a rounded eastern wall and a short rectangular refectory with a four-door porch, above which the bell tower towered (only the remains of the lower tier have been preserved). To the bell tower, from which only the remains of the lower tier have been preserved, a staircase built at the entrance to the right wall [4] .
The temple initially had two altars: in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord and in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Kazan". In 1895, the altars were united into one in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord.
The church was made in the style of the Elizabethan Baroque, decorated with lush polychrome stucco molding [5] . Fragments in the form of sculptures of angels and various architectural details on the walls of the attic of the rebuilt building [6] preserved.
Recovery
In 2014, on the day of the Holy Trinity, a worship cross was erected near the temple. On Pentecost, the Dean of the Bryansk District, Priest Konstantin Serenkov and Rector of the Church Priest Valery Anokhov performed a public prayer and the rite of consecration of the cross.
June 4, 2014 in the library named after F.I. Tyutchev held a regional seminar on the protection of cultural monuments with the participation of regional officials, the district administration and the deanery of the Bryansk district church district Priest Konstantin Serenkov.
