Barmin, Igor Vladimirovich

Igor Vladimirovich Barmin (born 1943) is a specialist in mechanical engineering, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2008). The son of V.P. Barmin (1909-1993) - academician, designer in the field of rocket science.

Biography

Born January 12, 1943 in Moscow.

In 1960, he graduated from high school with a gold medal, then worked as a milling machine operator at the 1st State Bearing Plant and at the same time studied at the N.E.Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School , which he graduated with honors in 1966, specializing in the Department of Engines.

From 1966 to 1974 he worked at NPO Energomash .

Since 1974, he has been working in the Design Bureau (Design Bureau) of General Engineering named after V.P. Barmin, where he has gone from a leading engineer to the General Director - General Designer (since 1993).

In 1990 - he defended his doctoral dissertation, in 1991 - he was awarded the academic title of professor.

Since 1982, he has been the head of the Department of Launching Missile Complexes at N.E. Bauman MSTU, leading the disciplines: Fundamentals of Technical Operation of Launching Complexes, Operation of Launchers and Launch Facilities [2] .

In 2008, he was elected a corresponding member of the RAS .

Scientific activity

Specialist in the field of space engineering.

He supervised the work on the creation of the long-term lunar base Zvezda , its individual systems and scientific equipment for the study of the moon and planets of the solar system, as well as the creation of soil sampling devices for the study of the surface of the moon and Venus and technological equipment for the production of materials under micro-gravity conditions.

  • Member of the Joint Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the complex problem of "Mechanical Engineering", member of the Scientific and Technical Council "Roskosmos";
  • Member of the editorial board of the magazines “Flight” and “Aviation Engineering and Technology”, was a member of the editorial board of the journal “ Issues of the History of Natural Science and Technology ” (WIET);
  • member of the interdepartmental expert commission on outer space;
  • Member of the Expert Council of the Higher Attestation Commission; Member of several Councils of Chief Designers

The author of over 300 scientific papers.

Full member of the International and Russian Engineering Academies and the International Academy of Astronautics; President of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics named after K. E. Tsiolkovsky (since 2011).
