Ways to
Lesbian sexual activity can be with penetration and without penetration. Such actions include: fingering (stimulation with fingers; can be both with and without penetration), sex without penetration, oral sex (can be both with penetration and without), oral stimulation of nipples or other erogenous zones , as well as various sexual positions [1] [2] . Anilingus is more rarely used [3] .
To stimulate the vagina or anus during the penetration, fingers, tongue, dildo , strapon , other sex toys, and sometimes BDSM objects can be used.
Health Risks
During sexual practices without penetration, the risk of fluid exchange is usually lower, but still present.
Studies have shown that 30% of women who practice lesbian sex have sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) [4] . This does not mean that such women are at greater risk of getting sick. Health Canada notes that the incidence of STDs in different groups of women ranges from 20 to 33%. An American university found that 60% of sexually active women have been ill for the past three years [5] .
HIV can be transmitted through body fluids, such as blood (including menstrual blood ), vaginal secretions, and breast milk . Transmission can occur during oral sex if a woman has cuts or mouth ulcers. HIV can also be transmitted by penetrating sex toys if their use harms the skin near the vagina or anus [6] .
