Bremsentaler or Bremsentaler ( German Brömsentaler or German Bremsentaler ) are several coin types of thalers of the free city of Lübeck of the 16th century. Their distinguishing feature was the image of one or two horseflies ( German: Bremsen ), from where they got their name [1] . These large flies were a symbol of the Bromsee clan, which included the mayors of Lubeck (c. 1472-1543) and (1540-1600) [2] .

The first 3 types of bremsentalers were released in 1537. Common to them is the image of Emperor Charles V on the reverse and the symbols of the city on the obverse . In the circular inscription obverse and placed the distinctive signs of the Bromsee family. The next issues of the Brewszentalers are dated 1594-1599 [1] [3] .
