Golitsyn, Mikhail Vladimirovich

Mikhail Vladimirovich Golitsyn - scientist, geologist, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences, discoverer of mineral deposits , author of more than 200 publications, academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences , participant in the Great Patriotic War . A major specialist in coal geology. Also a poet, writer and artist [1] .

Biography

The son of Prince Vladimir Mikhailovich Golitsyn and Princess Elena Petrovna Golitsyna (Sheremeteva). Great-grandson of the Governor of Moscow, Prince Vladimir Mikhailovich Golitsyn . Born July 27, 1926. From the age of five he lived in Dmitrov, where the Golitsyns were expelled because of their noble descent [2] .

In World War II, he dug trenches along the Moscow-Volga canal , worked as a nurse in a hospital and in rural work on collective farms in the Dmitrovsky district . Enrolled in a fighter battalion to fight the Nazi paratroopers. In 1943 he entered the preparatory department of the Moscow Petroleum Institute , in 1944 he transferred to the Moscow Mining Institute (now the Mining Institute of NUST “MISiS” ).

From 1948 to 1951 he studied at the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute. After graduating from the Moscow State Engineering Inspection, he moves to Karaganda ( Kazakhstan ), works as a geologist at coal deposits, and is engaged in scientific work. In 1966 he defended his thesis “Metamorphism and forecast of coal quality of the Karaganda basin”, in 1975 - his doctoral dissertation “ Metamorphism of Paleozoic coal of Central Kazakhstan”.

In 1975 he returned to Moscow, until 1988, he was a leading researcher at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of the Economics of Mineral Raw Materials and Exploration (VIEMS). Then he works as a professor at the Department of Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals of the Geological Faculty of Moscow State University [3] .

He was buried at Dolgoprudnensky cemetery .
