The age limit for candidates for deputies of the House of Assembly is 18 years. In addition, it is required that the voter reside in Zimbabwe for at least five years and that his current place of residence is within the constituency in which he or she wants to vote. Similar requirements apply to candidates.

Composition
According to the 1980 constitution , 20 out of 100 parliamentary seats were reserved for whites, but in 1987 this rule was abolished.
