Biography

Yuri Leontiev was born on April 21, 1942 in the Russian-Chinese city of Dalniy (now Dalian ), which at that time was a Japanese colony. His father was Japanese officer Matsudo Tadashi, and his mother was Vera Leontyeva, an employee of the NKVD of the USSR. After the end of World War II, his father was sent to a concentration camp, and his mother and two children were exiled to Kazakhstan [1] .

After graduation, Yuri Leontiev served in the Navy, then became a marine ecologist. The service he created at the Far Eastern Shipping Company in 1970-1980 was engaged in the prevention of oil spills and the collection of oil stains from the surface of the water. In 1976 he was awarded the VDNH gold medal for the development of treatment systems. In 1997-2005, he headed the Eco-Sea production and environmental enterprise [1] .

In 1968 he organized a section of women's sambo [2] . In 1981, Yuri Leontiev founded the Sambo-81 children's and youth sports school in the village of Luchegorsk, Pozharsky district, Primorsky Krai . On his initiative, in 1990 in Vladivostok , the regional women's wrestling school "Amazon" was created [2] . In 1992, he became the head of the Regional Women's Wrestling Federation [3] .

Yuri Leontyev prepared 2 Honored Masters of Sports, 15 Masters of Sports of the international class, 85 Masters of Sports of Russia, 5 judges of the international category, 10 judges of the All-Russian category. Among his pupils are the world champion in sambo: Oksana Faleeva , Tatyana Zenchenko , Kristina Stashkevich , Polina Krupskaya and Yana Kostenko [3] .

He was elected as a deputy to the Duma of the city of Vladivostok (faction "United Russia"). He is a member of the Committee on Social Policy and Veterans Affairs [1] [3] .
