Tavua ( Fij. and English. Tavua ) is a city whose population according to the 2007 census is 2388 people [1] , located 20 km northeast of the city of Mba on the island of Viti Levu , Fiji .

Tavua was governed by a nine-member City Council that was elected for three years. Each year, one of the members of the Council was elected as mayor .
In 2009, the Provisional Government, backed by the military, abolished all local government in the Republic of Fiji and appointed special administrators to manage urban areas.
Famous Natives
In Tavua, the 2012 Olympic Games participant Leslie Copeland was born [2]. He took 13th place in the qualification of spear throwing , stopping a step away from getting into the final competitions of the tournament [3] .
