Scientific activity

The author of 50 scientific papers.

In the theory of disordered systems, P. I. Arseev obtained important results related to the correct description of the electromagnetic field over an uneven surface and to the study of the exciton localization in a magnetic field in semiconductor structures.

The developer of the general quantum kinetic theory of tunneling for systems in which the observed characteristics are determined by kinetics and cannot be obtained from equilibrium parameters, described a number of features due to Coulomb correlations and electron-phonon interaction in the contact region. The nonequilibrium theory of tunneling that he developed is actively used to explain experimental results.

He constructed a special theory of the linear response of superconductors to an electromagnetic field, which allows us to solve the problem of maintaining the gauge invariance of all response functions, which is a nontrivial result, and studied non-standard superconducting properties of systems with several electronic bands of different symmetries near the Fermi surface. It was shown for the first time that in real compounds, a significant difference between the observed superconducting properties and the BCS model can arise due to the non-trivial structure of electronic states at the Fermi level.

Member of the editorial board of the Uspekhi Fizicheskikh Nauk and Nature magazines.
