Biography
Born on April 16, 1947 in Kiev, grew up in the Shulyavka district. He graduated from eight classes at school number 102, then from the age of 15 he worked as a turner, and later a thread grinder at the Petrovsky plant . He started playing hockey in childhood with his older brothers Vladimir and Vyacheslav on the lakes behind the zoo , where Nogechevsky Nikolai Ivanovich noticed him and invited him to practice. Pavlov went on to play hockey at the Start stadium of the Avangard sports society. The first trainer is Vladimir Nikolaevich Balakin . From the age of 11 he played for the Avangard children's team and began playing in the youth squad. At the age of 14, he already trained in youthful and basic.
In 1963, the Dynamo club was created in the city and Yuri Pavlov was transferred to the youth squad. Until the age of 20, he played in the attack, but in one game, due to an injury, defender Pavlov was transferred to the defense. At first it was difficult for the player to rebuild, he often went on the attack, and the team missed, but after a year or two mastered the position of the defender. Pavlov for a long time could not get into the Dynamo base, he went through the pre-season training three times with the team, but he was returned to the youth squad. It was only the fourth time that he gained a foothold in Dynamo - in 1968 he began to play for the main club.
Pavlov became the first Dynamo player to be born in Kiev (then the backbone of the team was Muscovites and Leningraders) [1] . In the 1969/70 championship, partners chose him as the team captain, but in the same season Dynamo flew out of the Premier League , the reason was the departure of experienced players and the rejuvenation of the squad. In 1973, the team was renamed "Falcon", the players were raised salaries and began to pay bonuses. In the 1974/75 season, the team was close to returning to the elite, taking third place, four points behind Avtomobilist . In the 1978/79 season, the people of Kiev returned to the major league of Soviet hockey, the team managed to win a number of matches against CSKA , Spartak , Krylia Sovetov and retained their place in the major league, but for Yuri Pavlov that season was the last in his career. In total, Dynamo and Sokol spent three seasons in the Premier League and eight in the first.
At the end of his playing career, Pavlov entered the Higher School of Trainers. He studied there with Yuri Morozov , who offered him a job as a second coach at the Sunday “ Chemist ”, but Pavlov did not want to move from the Ukrainian SSR . In 1981, he worked with a factory team from Dneprodzerzhinsk . Later he worked as a children's coach. Among his pupils are Dmitry Khristich , Andrey Sryubko [1] .
