Biography

Ekaterina Vladimirovna Aleksandrovskaya was born on October 11 (24), 1899 in the actor's family of E. P. Korchagina (Korchagina-Aleksandrovskaya) and V. V. Aleksandrovsky in Ivanovo-Voznesensk, Shuisky District, Vladimir Province (now Ivanovo ) shortly before their move to Pskov [ 1] .

In 1918 she graduated from the School of Russian Drama in Petrograd (in the class of Yu. M. Yuriev ). In 1918–26, she performed at the Alexandrinsky Theater , where her debut was Nicole’s role in Moliere ’s The Bourgeois in the Nobility . Later she played in the Bolshoi Drama Theater .

In 1941 she returned to Alexandrinka (at that time the Leningrad State Academic Drama Theater named after A. Pushkin), where she worked until the end of her life. She was a sharp-witted actress who created images imbued with folk humor and sincerity.

She died on January 4, 1973, and was buried in the Theological Cemetery of St. Petersburg.
