Depressive personality disorder is a personality disorder characterized by a persistent pattern of depressive cognition and behavior.

Diagnostic Criteria
Criteria for depressive personality disorder in DSM-IV (5 or more symptoms must be present) [1] :
- in the usual mood , despondency, gloom, joylessness, sadness prevail;
- self-esteem is centered on beliefs in one's own helplessness, inadequacy;
- is critical, accusing and derogatory in relation to himself;
- is thoughtful and restless;
- is negative, critical and judgmental towards others;
- is a pessimist;
- prone to guilt or remorse.
Although depressive personality disorder is not mentioned in DSM-IV-TR as a separate personality disorder, it is described in the diagnosis section “ personality disorder without further elaboration ” (code 301.9, English personality disorder NOS ). It is also described in Appendix B, Criteria and Axis for Further Research.
In ICD-10, depressive personality disorder as a separate disorder is not distinguished, but is included in the diagnostic section “ dysthymia ” ( F 34.1 ) [2] .
Clinical Description
The mental state of people with depressive personality disorder permeates a feeling of joylessness, gloom, they constantly concentrate on thoughts of unpleasant content [3] . They are too serious and lack a sense of humor , they usually do not take jokes [3] . Constant pessimism and low self-esteem are characteristic [3] .
