1995 Election of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region
Held in August 1995. Passed in two rounds, held on August 6 and 20, 1995.

- Zyablitsev Evgeny Gennadevich , 06/21/65, General Director of the Russian House LLP, President of the Ural representative office of JSC Interugol, nominated by the public association Zyablitsev Fund.
- Kadochnikov Vladimir Dmitrievich , 06/23/43, General Director of the Russian stove corporation, nominated by the Sverdlovsk regional organization of the Communist Party .

In the first round, not one of the candidates won 50% of the vote, so the 2nd round of elections was announced. According to the results of the first round, two candidates were in the lead: the head of the Regional Duma E. Rossel (28.5% of the voters) and the head of the Regional Administration A. Strakhov (26%). The head of the Administration was supported by local branches of the movement “ Our Home is Russia ”, the party “ Democratic Choice of Russia ” and the movement “Forward Russia”, and the head of the legislative body - Valery Trushnikov, who received 22.3% of the vote. In contrast to Rossel’s idea of "the status of the republic for the region," Strakhov put forward the idea of "equal rights for all regions."
In the second round of elections of the Head of the Oblast Administration on August 20, 1995, Edward Rossel won by a large margin (59% of the vote).
