At the XXVIII World Summer Universiade in Gwangju, Azerbaijan represented 12 athletes in three sports: athletics, fencing and judo [1] . As a result, the Azerbaijani team won two gold medals and one bronze medal, having won 27th place [2] .

Competition Results
Judo
The first medal of Azerbaijan at the Universiade was won by judoka Huseyn Rahimli . Starting his performance from the 1/16 finals, he lost to the Japanese Yuji Yamamoto, but in connection with his opponent reaching the semi-finals, he continued the competition for bronze in the consolation round. Having defeated Eduard Nikulaescu from Romania first, and then Vaclav Sedmidubski from the Czech Republic, Ragimli later defeated the Brazilian Igor Pereiro and Kamol Rasulov from Uzbekistan. In the battle for the bronze medal, Ragimli in the second minute won an ippon victory over Zelimkhan Ozdoev from Russia [3] [4] .
Athletics
In the hammer throw, Azerbaijan was represented by Anna Skidan , who, throwing a projectile at 70.67 m, won first place. This was the second award of the Azerbaijani team at the Universiade [5] .
Another athlete of Azerbaijan, Haile Ibragimov, also took the gold medal of the University, at a distance of 5000 meters, finishing in 13 minutes 44.31 seconds [6] .
Fencing
Saber fencers Sevil Bunyatova and Sabina Mikina finished the group stage in first place, thereby reaching the playoffs. Mikina in the first match of the playoff round defeated the Wranswoman Joel Belin with a score of 15:11, but then lost to Seon Hey Kim from South Korea with a score of 12:15. Sevil Bunyatova at the start of the playoffs lost to Victoria Marte from Poland with a score of 12:15. The saber fencer Sevindzh Bunyatova took the last place in her group [4] .
