Adam Kochansky ( Polish: Adam-Adamandy Kochański ; ( 1631 , Dobrzyn - 1700 , Teplice ) - Polish mathematician of the 17th century [1] .

In his youth he entered the Jesuit Order . In the 1650-1670s he taught mathematics in many cities of Europe ( Mainz , Florence , Olomouc, Prague), since 1677 he served for some time at the observatory in Breslau (Wroclaw). After returning to his homeland in 1680-1685, he was a professor in Warsaw. In 1684, together with astronomer J. Hevelius, he designed a massive and richly decorated sundial placed on the wall of the royal Wilanów Palace [2] . Since 1691 he became a court mathematician of King John III [3] , also a librarian in the Wilanow Palace.
