Biography

Born June 29, 1958 in Katana, South Kivu , Belgian Congo (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo ). The second son [1] [2] of Archduke Rudolph of Austria (1919-2010) from his first marriage to the Russian countess Ksenia Chernysheva-Bezobrazova (1929-1968) [1] [2] . Brothers - Archduke Carl Peter and Johann Peter. On the paternal side, Simeon was the grandson of the last emperor of Austria-Hungary, Charles I and Zita Bourbon-Parma [1] [2] , and on the maternal side - Count Sergei Alexandrovich Chernyshev-Bezobrazov (1894-1972) and Countess Elizaveta Dmitrievna Sheremeteva (1893-1974 )

Simeon’s father, Archduke Rudolph of Austria, owned a coffee plantation in the province of South Kivu . His mother died when he was ten years old, in 1968 , after a car accident in France, in which his father was also seriously injured. Archduke Johann of Austria, the younger brother of Simeon, died in a car accident in 1975 at the age of 13.

His father Rudolf of Austria in 1971 remarried the German princess Anna Gabriele von Wrede (born 1940), from the marriage with which his sister, Archduke Ekaterina of Austria (born 1972) was born.

Currently, Archduke Simeon and his family live and work in the Principality of Liechtenstein .

Marriage and children

On July 13, 1996 in La Toledana ( Spain ), Archduke Simeon of Austria married born on April 5, 1967, the second daughter of Infant Carlos, Duke of Calabria (1938-2015), [1] [2] , and his wife, Princess Anne of Orleans (born 1938) [3] [4] . Spouses have five children [1] [2] :

  • Archduke Ludwig Christian Franciscus Maria of Austria (born November 16, 1998, Grabs , St. Gallen , Switzerland ). His godparents are his paternal aunt, Princess Maria Anna Golitsyna (born 1954) and his maternal aunt, Princess Cristina de Bourbon-Sicilian (born 1966) [5]

Archduke Simeon is the godfather of Archduke Imre of Austria (born 1985), the son of his cousin Archduke Karl Christian of Austria (born 1954). His goddaughter is Princess Ladislaya von Auersperg-Trautson (born 1999), the daughter of his cousin, Archduke Maria Constanta of Austria (born 1957).
