Biography

Arevaluys Arutyunovna Vartanyan was born in 1914 in the city of Gagra, Black Sea Province of the Russian Empire (now the city is located on the territory of the Abkhaz Autonomous Republic ), in a working-class family [2] .

In 1940, Arevaluys Vartanyan and her family moved permanently to the Berievsky district of the Armenian SSR (since 1953, the Shaumyan district, since 1958 as part of the city of Yerevan ) [2] . She was hired by the collective farm named after Stalin (later bore the name of the XVIII Congress of the CPSU (b) ). In a short time, having mastered the agrotechnical conditions for growing fruit crops , Vartanian began to engage in horticulture and viticulture . In the difficult years of the Great Patriotic War, Vartanian managed to get high yields of grapes , for which in 1944 she was awarded the Order "Badge of Honor" [3] .

In the postwar period, in the direction of the kolkhoz named after the XVIII Congress of the CPSU (b), Arevaluis Vartanian began to be engaged in sericulture . She was appointed as a breeder of a collective farm. By 1950, caring for three boxes of greny, Vartanyan received a record harvest of 341.5 kilograms of silkworm cocoons [3] .

In 1952, Arevaluys Vartanian cared for four boxes of griences and received 110 kilograms of silkworm cocoons, for which she was awarded the second Order of Lenin . Since 1957, Vartanyan again went over to gardening work and was appointed as a link horticultural unit of the collective farm named after the XVIII Congress of the CPSU (B.). Under the leadership of Vartanyan, the link managed to get a high yield of grapes - 155 centners from each hectare in the total area of ​​4.5 hectares. Arevalouis Vartanian participated in the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition , where she presented her achievements and was awarded the Prize by the Main Exhibition Committee [3] .

Arevalouis Arutyunovna Vartanyan also conducted active social activities. She was elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR of the III convocation In 1955 and 1957, Vartanian was elected a deputy of the Shaumyan regional council, and in 1959, a deputy of the Yerevan City Council [5] .
