Nationalization of banks is the process of nationalization of private commercial banks of the Russian Empire that began after the October Revolution of 1917.

Background
"Socialist transformations" in the Russian economy was initiated by the first decrees of Soviet power: on land; on the organization of working control; on the nationalization of banks, large industrial enterprises and the merchant fleet [1] .
History
Initially, already on October 25 ( November 7 ), 1917 , the Bolsheviks formally took control ("took possession") of the State Bank of Russia, after which, by decree of the Council of People's Commissars of November 25 ( December 8 ) 1917 , state land banks were abolished [2] [3 ] ] [4] .
