Killing Felicia Gale

Felicia Gale Picus (former St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter) was killed in her home in a gated community in St. Louis, Missouri in 1998. ^[1] She was injured several times (10 to 43 stab wounds, reports vary). ^{[2] [3]}

Police arrested Marcellus Williams for the crime based on the testimony of inmate Henry Cole, and the testimony of his former girlfriend Lara Asaro, who was paid $ 10,000 ^[4] . There is no physical evidence of Williams' involvement in the murder, although the police found some of Gayle’s things in the car that Williams drove on the day of the murder. ^[3] In December 2016, doubts about Williams' guilt increased, due to the results of DNA testing. On August 15, 2017, the Missouri Supreme Court, on an expedited basis, refused to postpone the sentence, despite the newly obtained results of examinations confirming Williams' innocence ^{[5] [6]} .

Williams was sentenced to death in 2001 in St. Louis by a district judge Emmett M. O'Brien. ^[7] Since then, he has been held at the Potosí Correctional Center ^[8] , he should be executed by administering a lethal injection on August 22, 2017 ^[7]
