Passage du Gois at low tide
First week
Grand Depart will be held in the VendΓ©e department of the Pays de la Loire region . [7] Departments of this region hosted cyclists on the very first Tour de France in 1903. Since that time, cities in the Pays de la Loire region have welcomed the Grand DΓ©part nine times, five of which were in VendΓ©e.
The route of the first stage will go along the Passage du Gois , notorious for the large fall on the Tour in 1999 [8] , whose road surface is usually slippery, because at high tide it is under the water column. The third stage in Cholet will be represented by the 35-kilometer team cutting , which was last held on the Tour in 2015 . [eight]
Second week
Third week
The final rounds of the final stage will traditionally be held on the Champs Elysees in Paris .
