The genus includes three species. Some authors recognize all three as separate species, but the World List of Families of Selected Plants , together with the Royal Kew Botanical Garden [2] , consider the genus as monotypic , including the only species Amalocalyx microlobus [3] .
These vines are found at an altitude of 800 to 1,000 m in the mountains of Yunnan , in Laos , Cambodia , Myanmar , Thailand , Vietnam and Western Malaysia [2] .
