Axel Martinius Eriksen ( Norwegian Axel Martinius Erichsen , January 18, 1883 , Drammen - March 22, 1965 ) is a Norwegian chess player . Champion of Norway (1922).

Biography
Ericksen's father was a tailor, a native of the Swedish city of Dalsland . Mother was born in the city of Mudum . She died when Eriksen was 8 months old.
After graduation, Ericksen worked as an accountant. He was fond of drawing.
He began to play chess in 1904 under the influence of his friend H.K. Kristoffersen , who later became the three-time champion of Norway. Together with Kristoffersen and several other enthusiasts, he founded a chess club in Drammen. For many years he was the secretary of this club. The club initially functioned as weekly meetings in a local cafe. Since 1917 he was a member of the chess club Christiania Schakselskap (now the club Oslo Schakselskap) [1] [2] .
