Biography
George Menyuk was born in 1918 in a working class family.
In 1937 - 1940 he studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Bucharest .
Began to print in 1934 . In 1939 he published a collection of poems "Inner Cosmic World". The poem Song of Dawn ( 1948 , Russian translation of 1953 ) reflects the socialist transformations in the Moldavian village.
In 1953 he joined the Communist Party . In 1957 - 1959 he worked as the chief editor of the Nistru magazine.
He died in 1987 .

Author of poetry collections “Ballads and Sonnets” ( 1955 ), “Selected Poems” ( 1958 ), “Time of Lera” ( 1969 ), “Flowers of Good” ( 1979 ), etc.
He published several books of literary essays: “Image in Art” (1940), “Break-Grass” (1959), “Essay” (1967), etc. The collections of short stories “The Last Carriage” (1965), “Dolphin” (1969) were also published. ; State Prize of the Moldavian SSR , 1972), the story "Disc" (1968). He translated into Moldavian the “ Word about Igor’s Regiment ”, the works of Pushkin , Lermontov , Dostoevsky and other writers.
Awards and titles
- He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor (1960) and medals.
- Laureate of the State Prize of the MSSR.
