Biography

The beginning of political activity

Born to a peasant family. Due to his political activities, he was forced to interrupt higher education, as he joined the youth communist movement.

In 1934 he joined the ranks of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia . In 1938, he was elected a member of the local CPY committee in Pec, and at a regional conference, a member of the CPY committee on Kosovo and Metohija (1940). He was repeatedly arrested and prosecuted, and after demonstrations in the Stoves in May 1940 he was forced to go underground.

During World War II

From the moment the invasion of the Nazi forces began, he participated in the organization of the uprising in Kosovo and Metohija. By a decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union at the end of 1941, he went to Albania. In 1941, a member of the provisional Central Committee of the Communist Party of Albania (with Miladin Popovich, Enver Khoja and Kochi Dzodze ). Together with Miladin Popovich, he made a significant contribution to the liberation and revolutionary struggle of the Albanian people; worked on the creation of organizations of the Communist Party of Albania , the organization of the communist youth of Albania and the formation of rebel and sabotage groups to combat the fascist occupiers and their accomplices. In May 1942 he moved from Albania to Yugoslavia. Making his way through impassable terrain, hiding from the enemy, until he met the proletarian brigade in the Igman area. After 82 days of intense searching, he came to the Headquarters of the High Headquarters of the NOAA in Western Bosnia.

He spent a month in the liberated territory, familiarizing himself with the experience of the National Liberation Movement, the work of the party and the authorities in the new conditions, and then returned to Albania with a letter from the Comintern and Tito to the local Communists. Upon his return to Albania, he participated in the preparations for the First Conference of the Communist Party of Albania. From April to August 1943, he coordinated the formation of party organizations, partisan units and the operational headquarters of the First Zone (Vlora and Argirokastro) in southern Albania. After the formation of the First Albanian Brigade in August 1943, he became its commander.

After successfully completing the mission in May 1944, he returned to Yugoslavia, where he participated in the formation of the First, Third, Fourth and Fifth Brigades of Kosovo-Metohija and the Operational Headquarters for Kosovo and Metohija, in which he was an assistant to the political commissar.

Careers in Socialist Yugoslavia

In 1956-1965 - Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Autonomous Region of Kosovo and Metohija, in 1960-1963. - Chairman of the People’s Assembly of the Kosovo-Metohija Autonomous Region .

He was elected a member of the Central Committee of the Union of Communists of Serbia and the Central Committee of the Union of Communists of Yugoslavia, a deputy of the Union Assembly, a member of the Central Committee of the Socialist Union of the Working People of Yugoslavia , a member of the Federation Council of the SFRY.

Awards and titles

People's Hero of Yugoslavia .

He was awarded the Order of National Liberation , the golden star of the Order of Merit for the people and the Order of Brotherhood and Unity , the Order of Courage; Partisan memory 1941.
