Biography
Born on November 27, 1957 in the village of Desyatins, Korostensky District, Zhytomyr Region, Ukrainian SSR.
He graduated from the Korosten boarding school and the Chernivtsi College of Railway Transport. Athletics began in the 9th grade under the leadership of Peter Bech. He later trained with Semyon Moshkovich (at a technical school), and then with the Honored Coach of Ukraine Denis Tishchuk [2] and Grigory Istratiy.
The first success in the national arena is 2nd place in the championship of Ukraine among schoolchildren at a distance of 5000 m (1975, Donetsk ). The standard of I category was fulfilled in 1976. He first made his name in the international arena in 1990, finishing third in the prestigious Long Beach Marathon ( USA ).
In 1989, he won the USSR Cup in marathon in Uzhgorod. In 1997, for the first time speaking at the World Championships in 100 km running in Winshotten ( Holland ), he immediately became the winner with the record of Ukraine - 6: 25.25. Since September 2007, Sergei Mikhailovich was a coach of the regional school of higher sportsmanship.
