Kaptyukh, Vasily Borisovich

Vasily Borisovich Kaptyukh (born June 27, 1967 , Molodechno ) is a Soviet and Belarusian athlete and trainer specializing in discus throwing . Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus (1995). Bronze medalist of the 1996 Olympic Games and 1995 and 2003 World Championships.

Biography

Vasily Borisovich Kaptyukh was born on June 27, 1967 in Molodechno.

He trained under the leadership of Vladimir Ivanovich Sivtsov [1] . Repeated champion of the USSR among juniors. In 1992, became the owner of the European Cup. As part of the national team of Belarus, he participated in three Olympics (1996, 2000, 2004) [2] [3] . He officially ended his career in 2010 [4] .

He is currently working as a trainer and teacher at the Republican Center for Olympic Athletics Training in Minsk [5] . Among his pupils, Gleb Zhuk is a bronze medalist at the World Junior Championships 2016, a silver medalist at the European Junior Championships 2017 [6] [7] .

Family

Wife - Larisa. Son Roman (1990-2011) died during a terrorist attack in the Minsk metro [8] [9] [10] [11] . Daughter - Alena (born in 2008).
