Biography
Jean Claret began his career as a builder of civil and military facilities: fortifications in the suburbs of Lyon and systems of dams and locks on the rivers Rhône , Soné and Loire [3] .
On January 27, 1888, Clara received from the City of Clermont-Ferrand a concession to build the first electric tram line in France, which was successfully launched on January 7, 1890 by Mayor Amed Gasquet. The first line of the tram was 4.5 kilometers long and ran between the Quarters of Montferrand and Jod, after 4 months it was extended to Ruay [3] [4] [5] . By 1892, the clermont-ferran tram had transported 2.5 million passengers [4] . In the future, Klara was also built tram and railway systems in other cities in France: Paris , Grenoble , [3] .
Jean Claret was the general concessionary of the World, International and Colonial Exhibition in Lyon 1894 [6] . For the exhibition, they built not only pavilions, but also laid three tram lines from the city center, using an innovative, at that time, electricity supply scheme from below, at which the voltage moved along with the moving tram, which prevented accidents [5] .
Jean Clara received several patents in the field of electric transport [3] .
