Biography
Born in a working class family.
He graduated from the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute with a degree in metallurgical engineering and Donetsk State University with a degree in economics. He studied management courses at the Institute of World Economy Problems of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the School of Business in the UK, and the California Academy of Business in the USA; Trained at Austrian metallurgical enterprises (Ferst-Alpine).
Since 1960, he worked as a hot metal cleaning worker, a rolling mate, a rolling milling machine operator, a senior milling machine operator, a foreman, a senior foreman, a shift supervisor, a site foreman, a deputy workshop foreman, and the main distributor of the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant named after V.I. Lenin .
Since 1982 - chief engineer of the Kramatorsk Metallurgical Plant . 1985 became the director of the Enakievo Metallurgical Plant , and the following 1986 became the director of the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant. V.I. Lenin.
Doctor of technical sciences , professor , academician of the Mining Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician of the Engineering Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and honorary academician of the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg).
Political Activities
Member of the city committee of the Communist Party; deputy of the district and city Councils of Kramatorsk, Enakievka, Donetsk; member of the regional council of trade unions of workers in the metallurgical industry; Member of the State Duma.
Nominated as a candidate for people's deputies, by the labor collective of the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant. V.I. Lenin, PTP VO "Ukrchermetavtomatika", BU of the trust "Donbassdomnaremont", BU of the trust "Ukrmetallurgremont".
March 18, 1990 was elected People's Deputy of Ukraine , receiving in the second round 64.17% of the vote, out of 4 candidates. He was a member of the Center deputy group, the New Ukraine faction.
Member of the Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in matters of law and that of the rule of law and the Constitutional Commission. In 1992, a candidate for the post of head of government, a member of the Supreme Economic Council under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and then the State Duma under the President of Ukraine.
