Biography

He was born on January 29, 1981 in the city of Nikolaev, in the family of the historian and local historian Alexander Petrovich Khayetskiy (born 1954), candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the department of historiography, source studies and special historical disciplines of NNU named after V. A. Sukhomlinsky, and a teacher of Russian language and literature . Grandfather Peter Romanovich taught to play chess (1911—?). At the age of five, he began to participate in competitions. The first coach is Tsitsilin Yuri Vitalievich.

In 1998, Roman Khayetskiy graduated from the Nikolaev Municipal Collegium at the Kiev-Mohyla Academy . In 2002, he graduated with honors from the Lviv State Institute of Physical Education . Since 2007, he studied at the correspondence department at the graduate school of the Kiev National University of Physical Culture and Sports (supervisor - academician V. N. Platonov ) [2] .

Since 2002 works as the senior trainer of the Nikolaev Youth Sports School on chess. Over the years of coaching, he prepared many champions and prize-winners of the championships of Ukraine and Europe. In 2008, at the European Chess Championship, Roman Khayetskiy’s students won 8 medals (2 - gold, 4 - silver, 2 - bronze). The student Alexander Bortnik is the world champion among young men under 18 years old (2014, Durban , South Africa ) [3] .
