Biography
Artsvik Mnatsakanovna Harutyunyan was born on December 22, 1929 in the village of Shaumyan, Echmiadzin district of the Armenian SSR (now in the Armavir region of the Republic of Armenia ) [2] in the family of a rural worker [3] .
She received secondary education in the Shaumyan rural school, which she graduated in 1946. She was a member of the Komsomol [3] . Even in school years, Harutyunyan took part in the work of the local collective farm: during the holidays, she was engaged in gardening and cotton growing , helping her parents [3] [2] . After leaving school in 1946, Harutyunyan went to work in the cotton-growing link of the Shaumyan collective farm. Overfulfilling the planned production plans and showing himself on the best side, in the same 1946 Harutyunyan was appointed the link of the cotton-growing link. Following the agrotechnical rules for growing cotton , the Harutyunyan link used fertilizers in a timely manner, carried out work on loosening the soil and irrigation , in addition, special attention was paid to ensuring the required number of plants on each hectare of land. By 1950, from each hectare on an area of 6 hectares, the link under the leadership of Harutyunyan received a record crop - 73.4 centners of high-quality cotton [4] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of July 25, 1951 for receiving a high cotton crop in 1950 on irrigated lands when the collective farm compulsory supplies and contracting for all types of agricultural products, payment in kind for MTS work and provision of seeds for all crops for the spring sowing of 1951 Artsvik Mnatsakanovna Harutyunyan was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal "Hammer and Sickle" [comm. 1] [5] .
In subsequent years, Harutyunyan's link continued to receive high cotton yields, and won the competitions of cotton growers. On February 18-21, 1958, Artsvik Harutyunyan participated in the All-Union Conference of Cotton Growers [6] . In the same year she joined the CPSU [7] . By 1959, the link under the leadership of Harutyunyan once again exceeded the plans for the delivery of cotton crops to the state [6] . For achieving high results, Harutyunyan was awarded the medals “For Labor Valor” and “For Labor Distinction” , as well as the gold and silver medals of VDNKh USSR [8] .
Artsvik Mnatsakanovna Harutyunyan conducted active social activities. She was elected to the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR IV-V convocations from the Shahumyan constituency No. 193 [9] . At the 23rd (1961) and 24th (1964) plenums of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia, Artsvik Harutyunyan was elected a candidate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia [2] . She was a candidate member of the Central Committee of the Young Communist League of Armenia, a member of the Echmiadzin District Committee of the Young Communist League of Armenia [7] . Harutyunyan was also a member of the Soviet Peace Committee [10] , a delegate to the XXII Congress of the CPSU [11] .
