Pyotr Vasilyevich Merkuryev ( June 17, 1943 - September 27, 2010 ) - Soviet and Russian actor , musicologist , choirmaster , music journalist . The son of actor Vasily Merkuryev and grandson of director Vsevolod Meyerhold . Honored Artist of the Russian Federation ( 2001 ).

Biography

Pyotr Merkuryev was born in the city of Kolpashevo, Tomsk Region, into the family of Vasily Vasilyevich Merkuryev and the daughter of Vsevolod Meyerhold Irina (his parents at that time headed the district drama theater in the city of Narym ).

He graduated from two music schools: at the Leningrad Conservatory ( 1965 ) as a musicologist , at the Moscow Conservatory ( 1967 ) as a conductor of the choir .

He received his higher choirmaster education at the Kharkov Institute of Arts ( 1970 ).

He worked as a teacher in the children's choir studio "Spring" ( 1966 - 1970 ) and the children's choir studio "Pioneer" ( 1971 - 1974 ).

From 1974 to 1992 - in the Union of Composers of the USSR (deputy chairman, chairman of the Commission on musical and aesthetic education of children and youth).

From 1989 to 2010 - Deputy. chief editor of the newspaper " Musical Review " (founded in 1989 by Tikhon Khrennikov ). As a music lecturer, he performed in the halls of the Moscow Philharmonic Hall , the Hall of Columns , the Concert Hall. Tchaikovsky (Moscow), led the television musical programs "Children's Hour" on Central Television .

He began acting in films in 1959 (the first role was conductor Igor in the film Nevsky Melody , Lenfilm ). He starred in more than 95 films.

Member of the Union of Composers of Russia , member of the Union of Journalists of Russia , member of the advisory board of the Russian National Section of ISME [1] .

He died in Moscow on September 27, 2010 at the 68th year of his life from a serious cancer disease [2] . He was buried on the Literary bridges of the Volkovsky cemetery in St. Petersburg.

Interesting Facts

Merkuriev twice in the movie played his grandfather, Vsevolod Meyerhold . The first time - in 1980 in the film "I am an Actress", the second time - in 2005 in the television series " Yesenin ".
