Biography

The daughter of Margrave Brandenburg-Ansbach Friedrich I (1460-1536) and the Polish princess Sophia Jagielki (1464-1512), the daughter of King Casimir IV . Elizabeth was the granddaughter of Brandenburg Elector Albrecht III .

In 1508, Elizabeth stayed in Nürtingen . There, Duke Ulrich of Württemberg , who refused to marry his bride Sabina of Bavaria, fell in love with her. In January 1509, he appeared in Munich and confirmed the legitimacy of the marriage contract with Elizabeth, but was in no hurry with his execution.

On September 29, 1510, Elizabeth was married to the margrave of Ernst of Baden-Durlakh (1482-1553). Thanks to his kinship with the powerful father of his wife, Ernst Baden-Durlahski, he took the reins of power from his father Christophe I and shared the Margrave with his brothers Philip and Bernhard .
