History

1965 - 1991

The construction of the plant began in 1965, in 1967 the first spinning machines were put into operation, in 1969 - the first weaving machines [1] .

In December 1970, another 1,200 looms were commissioned at the mill [2] .

As of 1982, the plant was producing a cotton base, weft yarn , fabrics ( calico , calico , chintz , madapolam , satin , rep , etc.); The enterprise included spinning, weaving, manufacturing, and central repair shops [1] .

In Soviet times, the Ternopil Cotton Mill named after the 60th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution [1] was one of the leading enterprises of the city [3] [4] [5] , on the balance sheet of the plant there were objects of the social infrastructure of the city (stadium [6] , House of Culture and factory dormitories).

After 1991

After the independence of Ukraine, the state-owned enterprise was renamed and transformed into a leased enterprise .

In July 1995, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a decision on the privatization of the plant in the second half of 1995 [7] , but this decision was subsequently revised and in June 1996 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine included KhBC in the list of enterprises whose privatization is carried out in accordance with individual plans [8] .

In August 1997, the plant was included in the list of enterprises of strategic importance for the economy and security of Ukraine [9] .

In January 2000, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine authorized the sale of state-owned shares of the enterprise [10] .

After the change of ownership in October 2002, funds were allocated for the re-equipment of the production base, in the spring of 2003, a design studio was created at the enterprise to develop new types of fabrics, equipped with computer equipment [11] .

In 2006, the situation of the enterprise was complicated by the increase in the import of foreign-made cotton fabrics into the country [12] [13] . The plant finished 2006 with a loss of 3.979 million hryvnias [14] .

In the fall of 2007, there was a conflict between the plant’s management and the city’s administration, as the enterprise’s management stopped heating 30 residential buildings that the factory boiler house had previously carried out [15] . The company completed the year 2007 with a loss of UAH 26.118 million [14] .

The economic crisis that began in 2008 complicated the situation of the plant [16] [17] , with the goal of reducing non-production costs in 2008-2009. 18 factory dormitories were transferred to the municipal property of the city [18] [19] .

The plant completed the year 2012 with a loss of 12.101 million hryvnias [20] .

In January 2014, by the decision of the economic court of the Ternopil region, reorganization of the enterprise began [20] .

After the outbreak of hostilities in eastern Ukraine in the spring of 2014, the plant was involved in the execution of the state military order for tailoring military uniforms, in the first half of 2015 it was developed and certified [21] , in August 2016, it mastered the production of two types of camouflage raincoat printed fabric with film coating (with a camouflage pattern Varan and with a special camouflage pattern), which is made using dyes of German and Swiss production [22] .

Current status

The plant is one of the 8 largest industrial enterprises in the Ternopil region (in March 2016 the number of employees was 706) [23] , manufactures fabrics under the Teksterno brand name and is a monopolist in the Ukrainian textile industry market [20] (the only enterprise in Ukraine capable of producing cotton fabrics 2.2 - 2.4 m wide) [14] .
