Biography
Stanislav Konstantinovich Kantenik was born in 1919 in the family of a blacksmith. In 1941, he graduated with honors from the Moscow Steel Institute , receiving the qualification of a metallurgical engineer with a degree in Foundry of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals. Scientific activity
S.K. Kantenik never left scientific activity as a metallurgical researcher, and grew up as a major scientist in the field of foundry. VZPI S.K. Kantenik headed the department "Foundry". He is the author and co-author of more than 100 educational, methodological and scientific works, including the textbooks “Foundry alloys” (co-authored by L.I. Levy ) and “Technology of metals and welding” (edited by P.I. Polukhin ) , teaching aids “Steel casting” and “Control of metallurgical production” (co-authored with A. I. Batyshev).
Teaching activities
For almost 30 years S.K. Kantenik was the rector of VZPI, he did a lot for the organization of correspondence polytechnical education in the USSR and contributed a lot to the international spread of education on the job. It was during his reign that VZPI became the country's basic university for the training of engineering personnel and the methodological center of correspondence education as such.
S.K. Kantenik was the chairman of the scientific and methodological council of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education on the problems of correspondence education. As a talented teacher, he in every way contributed to the introduction of new forms of distance education, many of which only at the beginning of the XXI century received full development. In particular, the development of teachers and methodologists of the VZPI in many respects anticipated such a popular form of training today as MOOCs . So, a training television center was created in VZPI, the institute's audiences were equipped with modern television complexes. The lecturers of the institute prepared television lectures on fundamental and special technical disciplines. It was the VZPI teachers who conducted lecture cycles for university students on Central Television .
Major specialist in the field of methods and organization of distance learning, S.K. Kantenik actively contributed to the organization of correspondence education in the countries of the socialist camp. He was the leader of Soviet delegations at international congresses in Bulgaria , Hungary , Sweden , Poland , East Germany , Yugoslavia and several other countries.
In 1979, at the International Conference in the UK, he made a presentation on distance learning. In addition, S.K. Kantenik participated in the conference of the International Council at UNESCO , where he also made a presentation.
Recognition
S.K. Kantenik was repeatedly elected deputy of the Moscow City Council . His activities are marked by high government awards; he is a holder of three orders and eight medals.
