Biography
Since June 1960 he was a member of the editorial board of the French avant-garde literary theoretical journal “ Tel Quel ”, uniting a group of intellectuals, writers and poets around him.
A specialist in the work of the poet and essayist Francis Ponj , with whom he corresponded.
Creativity
A writer belonging to the younger generation of authors of the “new novel”. His texts (The Royal Ceremony, 1960; the Overture trilogy, 1966–1974) are subtitled “novel”, but in essence they are more likely to be experiments of lyrical prose than romance narratives proper.
In his theoretical principles, Thibodeau tries to combine a sociological (not without extremes and simplifications) approach to literature with structuralism methods.
Among his works is the first monograph on the poet Francis Pong (1967). The article "Text Novel" was published in the journal "Erop" (1968, October).
Translated into French a number of works by Julio Cortazar , Edoardo Sanguinetti and Italo Calvino .
Since 1961 - one of the innovators of radio art . He is the author of several works in this direction, rediscovered in 1998, translated and adapted in many countries of the world.
