Farmington is a city in Utah ( USA ). Davis County Civic Center. According to the 2010 census, the number of residents was 18,275 people (37th line in the list of the largest cities in the state ).

Content
History
The city was founded in 1847-48 by Hector Hythe, then five families joined it. Davis County was created in 1852, and North Cottonwood, which was renamed Farmington, was chosen as the county center. Until the XX century, the city remained an agricultural center, then the development of industry began. In 1870, a railway was drawn through the city. In 1892, during the first commercial boom, the city was incorporated [1] .

According to the 2010 census, the population of Farmington was 18,275 people (of which 50.8% were men and 49.2% were women), the city had 5148 households and 4385 families. On the territory of the city were 5339 buildings with an average density of 206.9 buildings per square kilometer of land. Racial composition : white - 95.0%, Asians - 0.9%, Native Americans - 0.3% [2] .
The population of the city by age range according to the 2010 census was as follows: 35.2% - residents under the age of 18, 3.7% - between 18 and 21 years old, 53.9% - from 21 to 65 years old and 7.2% - at the age of 65 years and older. The average age of the population is 29.3 years. For every 100 females in Farmington, there are 103.3 males, while for 100 adult females there are already 101.8 males of comparable age [2] .
Of 5148 households, 85.2% were families: 75.9% of couples living together (43.9% with children under 18 years of age); 7.0% are women living without husbands and 2.4% are men living without wives. 14.8% did not have a family. On average, 3.41 people are households, and the average family size is 3.76 people. Alone, 12.6% of the population lived, 4.8% were single elderly people (over 65) [2] .
Economics
In 2015, out of 14325 people over 16 years old, 9761 were employed. At the same time, men had a median income of $ 71,339 per year, compared to $ 40,636 of the average annual income for women. In 2014, the median income for a family was estimated at $ 97,427, for a household - at $ 92,363. The per capita income is $ 31,473 per year [2] .

According to the US Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 25.8 km². Interstate I-15 passes through the city. Farmington is located between Salt Lake City and Ogden.
