Biography
In 1975 - 1981 he studied at the Art Institute of the Lithuanian USSR (now the Art Academy in Vilnius). There he worked as a senior teacher ( 1982 - 1990 ). Since 1983, member of the Union of Artists of Lithuania.
Died after a serious illness.
Creativity
He participated in exhibitions of works of small forms ( Vilnius , 1979) and young artists ( Moscow , 1980), an international exhibition of new forms ( Chicago , 1981), in the Republican Exhibition of Young Artists (Vilnius, 1981), and later in many other exhibitions in Kaunas , Klaipeda as well as in Czechoslovakia (1983, 1985), Italy (1989), Germany (1989, 1990 , 1991 ), Switzerland ( 1990 ), France ( 1996 ).
Personal exhibitions were held in Vilnius ( 1994 , 1997 , 2002 , 2003 ), Zurich ( 2000 - 2001 ), Klaipeda ( 2001 , 2004 ).
The sculptural works are installed in Trakai , Vilnius (in particular, the Adam Mickiewicz Library ), Kaunas and other cities of Lithuania, as well as in Fanano ( Italy ), Amsterdam ( Netherlands ). The works are in private collections acquired by the Lithuanian Museum of Art, the Tretyakov Gallery .
He is the author of memorial tables in Vilnius perpetuating his activity or stay in the city - associate professor of the choir conducting department of the Vilnius Conservatory and the head of the famous choir “Ažuolyukas” German Perelshtein , artist Ferdinand Ruschits ( 1870 - 1936 ) and other prominent cultural figures.
The memorial table on the initiative of the Polish Institute [2] was installed on June 11, 1999 [3] on the house on Piles Street ( Zamkova , in Soviet times Gorky, Pilies g. ), Where the artist lived for some time.
On October 17, 2005, a memorial plaque made of sandy pink marble with a bas-relief of the work of sculptor Romualdas Quintas in memory of the thinker and medieval scientist L. P. Karsavin was unveiled on the facade of a house in Vilnius (1 Didogey Street ; the so-called “ Frank House ” [ 4] [5] .
On December 12, 2006, a memorial plaque was opened in honor of the famous Russian writer F. M. Dostoevsky [6] on the house at 20 Didzhoyi Street ( Bolshaya , in Soviet times Gorky, Didžioji g. ). In that place, there used to be a hotel, in which in April 1867 Dostoevsky and A. G. Dostoevskaya stopped traveling to Germany . [7] .
On May 16, 2007, in the Old Town of Vilnius, at the intersection of Mesinu and Disnos Streets, Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas and sculptor Romas Kvintas unveiled the monument “Vilnius Citizen Dr. Tsemakh Shabad, the prototype of the good doctor Aibolit ”. The monument to Shabad was erected on the initiative of the Litvak Foundation. A low monument (the figure of a doctor in an old-fashioned hat 1.70 m) depicts Shabad and a girl with a cat in her arms [8] [9] . Zemah Shabad ( 1864 - 1935 ) was a famous and popular doctor and a major public figure. During his visits to Vilna before the First World War , Korney Chukovsky stayed in his house [10] .
On June 22, 2007, a monument to the French writer Romain Gary by Romas Quintas was unveiled in Basanavičiaus Street (formerly Pogulianka) in Vilnius. The bronze sculpture (created back in 2003 ) depicts the autobiographical hero of the novel “Promise at Dawn” - a boy with galoshes in his hands. The monument was erected on the initiative of the Vilnius Club Romain Gary with the support of the railway company Lietuvos geležinkeliai ( Lietuvos geležinkeliai ) and the Litvak Foundation ( Litvakų fondas ) [11] [12] .
On September 9, 2017, in connection with the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation, a monument to Martin Luther by Romualdas Quintas on a low granite pedestal of 30 cm was unveiled in the courtyard of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vilnius [13]
