Biography
Born on January 24 ( February 5 ), 1888 in Saratov in a noble family, the son of the manager of the Saratov branch of the State Bank, Russian. Grandson of the priest Zakhari Ivanovich Oppokov, cousin of M.S. Grushevsky .
Member of the RSDLP since 1903 , Bolshevik.
1906 - 1910 - Faculty of Law, St. Petersburg University (in 1913 passed the state exam externally). He collaborated with the newspapers Novaya Zhizn (St. Petersburg), Volna (Saratov) and Borbaia (Moscow), in the journal School and Life (Saratov).
Member of the revolution of 1905-1907. Member of the Moscow District and Moscow City Committees of the RSDLP (1907–1908), responsible organizer of the Lefortovo district of Moscow. Since 1909, the secretary of the Petersburg Committee of the RSDLP and a member of its Executive Commission, for some time joined the otzovists .
1910 - 1913 - arrested, deported under public surveillance by the police to the Arkhangelsk province , participated in scientific expeditions to the Arctic Ocean .
1916 - 1917 - arrested, exiled to Irkutsk province . After the February Revolution of 1917 he returned to Moscow.

Rehabilitated posthumously in 1956 .
