After the X century there was a legend that built an aqueduct built a Jew, who arrived from China [4] . The creation of the channel was directly influenced by the Roman technique [2] . The descriptions of the 10th century aqueduct have been preserved [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] .

The channel is partially made of lead ( Pers. ارزیز , ɒɾziz ), from which came the name of the canal “Anzis”, that is, “lead” [2] [3] [10] [11] [12] . In many historical sources, aryk is known under this name.

He entered the shahristan at the southern Kesh gate. Two kilometers south of Afrasiab, along the walls of the “outer city” (shakhribiruna), in the place of al-Safarun, the canal climbed a dam. Over the quarter of the sarrafs (me) the channel of the channel is lined with ceramic (fired) bricks . In the place of Ras-from the aqueduct began on the arches or dam. In 1945, the remnants of the abutment, or aqueduct dams - masonry of the I-II centuries made of large raw bricks of 40 × 40 × 12 centimeters, were found to the south of the Keshsky gate of the shahristan and on the site of the gate of Akhanin Shakhribirun. The end of the channel was a gutter entirely of lead [2] . According to Istahri : “the duct is lined with lead from all sides” [5] . According to Ibn Haukal : “the outer side of this duct is entirely of lead” [6] .

For the first time, the remains of the Juey-Arzis channel during excavations were discovered by Soviet archeologist Alexei Terenozhkin in 1946. The find was found near the Siab bazaar . According to the research, the dimensions of the aryk were 59 × 40 × 9 cm, 42 × 42 × 9 cm, 28 × 49 × 9 cm and 36 × 49 × 9 cm. According to the same research, the aryk was constructed of ceramic brick and a mixture of quicklime lime with ash [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] .

Since Juy-Arzis was one of the important water sources of Afrasiab, the aryk was carefully guarded and guarded. According to the Arab geographer Istarhi , who lived in the 10th century, the responsibility for the aryk was assigned to the Zoroastrians (possibly meaning the Zoroastrian priests), who were replaced by Jizya in exchange [5] [2] .

In 1220, as a result of the Mongol invasion of Central Asia , led by Genghis Khan , on the sixth day of the siege of Samarkand, Juy-Arzis was destroyed [2] , like many other objects of Afrasiab, Samarkand and the rest of Central Asia. Because of this, Afrasiab was left without water, and subsequently fell into disrepair and turned into ruins.
