Tomasz Arthur Makovsky ( Polish Tomasz Artur Makowski [ˈtɔmaʃ ˈartur maˈkɔfsci]; born 1970 ) is a Polish librarian and historian, director of the National Library of Poland , head of the National Library Council of Poland, as well as a digitalization committee under the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Biography
Makovsky has been working at the National Library since 1994. Before becoming the General Director in 2007, he was the Deputy General Director for Research, as well as the Head of Special Collections.
He is a member of many organizations and institutions in Poland and abroad, including the European Library , the People’s Committee for Memory of the World of UNESCO, the Archival Council under the Director General of the State Archive, the Program Council of the Book Institute, the Council of the Institute Frederic Chopin, the Editorial Committee of Polish Libraries Today , Council of the National Museum in Krakow , Council of the Museum of Literature and Council of the Museum of the Park Lazienki . In 2005 he was the curator of the first monographic exhibition about the Zamoysky Library. He is an associate at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.
The author of three books (1996, 1998, 2005) and several articles, specializing in library history and manuscript research.
