Biography
Vladimir Vasilievich Bobkov was born on October 31, 1936 in the village of Paporotnoye, Zhlobin district, Gomel region, in a family of rural teachers. With a silver medal, he graduated from the Streshinsky school of the Zhlobin district and in 1954 [2] entered the Belarusian State University . After graduating with honors from the Department of Mathematics of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of BSU (1959) [2] he constantly works at the Department of Computational Mathematics : associate professor - from 1965 [3] , professor - from 1987 [3] , head of the department - from 1973 to 1984 . and from 1996 to the present [3] . In 1961 [2] he entered the postgraduate study at the BSU for full-time study in the specialty “Computational Mathematics” , in which he completed his studies on April 24, 1964 with the defense of a dissertation on the topic “The method of integral relations for equations and systems of hyperbolic type” [2] (scientific adviser - Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR V.I. Krylov). September 15, 1989 [4] approved as a professor . In 1995 [3] he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “One-step methods for the numerical solution of rigid systems” . The main direction of his scientific research is methods for the numerical solution of differential equations ( development of computational algorithms focused on the use of modern computer technology). He is the owner of a large number of various awards, including the laureate of the State Prize of the BSSR in the field of science and technology (1978) [4] . In 1991, in the competition (to the 70th anniversary of the university) for the best joint work in physics and mathematics among the employees of the Belarusian State University and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, he was awarded the first prize [3] .
Published 10 books with a total volume of over 3,500 pages. For about 30 years, many of these books have been constantly included in the lists of basic literature of the respective academic disciplines, including those outside Belarus [3] . Since 1971, he has always been one of the authors of the course programs “Calculation Methods” and “Numerical Methods” , approved as standard for all universities of the USSR [3] . Prepared 5 candidates of sciences [3] . He is also the deputy editor-in-chief of the journal “Bulletin of the Belarusian University” (series 1) [3] .
